Preparing the Hockey Addition Puzzle
Here are a few of the steps that we do the prepare the addition puzzles.
Write Answers on the Back of the Puzzle
Before you laminate the puzzle you can write on the back of the puzzle pieces the addition equation they match. This is a great way to work on self checking for kids. But you don’t have to do this step if you don’t want to.
Laminating the Hockey Puzzles and Mat
The hockey addition puzzles work best when laminated. You can laminate the puzzle mat and the addition puzzle pieces.
The puzzle mat will never be cut up and can be left alone.

Cut out the Puzzle Pieces
You are going to want to cut out the puzzle pieces. If you laminated first you can just cut out the puzzle. Not all laminator work great for this but you can cut and the laminate and cut the puzzle pieces again.

Put Putty On the Puzzle Mat
You are going to prepare the puzzle mat. We do this by using wall putty on the squares. It is easy to use and quick to put on the puzzle and is easier than Velcro.

You can see how the wall puzzle helps the puzzle pieces stay on the puzzle even when you pick up the puzzle. We do this a lot and you can reuse the putty as well! Just take the puzzle off the puzzle when you are done and use it later.
You can hold it up and the piece stay!

Now you are ready to use your addition puzzle.
