Cotton Ball Painted Snowman Craft
The snowman theme is a favorite for me for the winter. We are always doing something with snowmen. It is a totally fun activity that many different ages can do.
Today I have a cotton ball painted snowman. This is a fun painting activity that kids can be creative with. There is no wrong or right way to do this.
Plus this is using different items like cotton balls and q-tips for the paint! You get some fine motor work in while painting.

We love all the different snowman books. But our favorite has been There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow!. We could read and laugh about it a lot! We had fun revisiting this book again for this painting activity.
What you need for the Cotton Ball Painted Snowman
This is a list of all the supplies that we used to make the snowmen.
- blue construction paper
- paint tray
- 3 circle cookie cutters
- cotton balls
- clothespins
- q-tip
- washable paints: white, black, and orange
How to make the Cotton Ball Painted Snowman
You will see how we make the cotton ball painted snowman. And when you are doing try this snowman project for kids.
Step 1: Draw the Circles
You start off by drawing circles on the paper. We used three sizes of cookie cutters for this. If you have younger kids doing the painting you have the circles already drawn for them.
They trace the inside of the circles.
When you are done the circles might look like this. You can see that the biggest at the bottom and the smallest at the top.

Step 2: Use Cotton Balls to Paint the Circles
Then you use the cotton ball in a clothespin to paint the snowman. You paint however much you want to fill in the circles.
You could also just paint inside the cookie cutters to make the snowman if you are looking for something different.
Step 3: Paint the Ground Below the Snowman
After you finish the snowman you add some snow below the snowman to make the ground.
You could also make a cotton ball sensory bin to do with this cotton ball painting.
Step 4: Draw Stick Arms on the Snowman
Then you use a q-tip and black paint to paint stick arms. This is fun because everyone can have their own idea of what stick arms on snowman are.
Step 5: Decorate Your Snowman
You can finish up by adding some buttons, a hat, and a face to your snowman.
